WTF is it?

For those of you who haven't heard much in the way of any updates on the Baltic Sea mystery, I have recently been informed of a recent report regarding the Ocean X Teams latest expedition to the "object". They still have not been able to come to any conclusion as to what the object is. What they are sure of is that  the material is natural in nature yet the purpose of it or how it got there is still to be understood or explained.

What they do know is that temperatures close to the object are reaching below 0 Degrees Celsius, which seems impossible considering that water freezes at that temperature. However, one explanation for this is due to the movement of water at these depths (almost like wind chill).

Another strange phenomenon that may not have been mentioned previously was the presence of high levels of radiation picked up from parts of the anchor that were at close proximity to the object. If you haven't read up on the Ocean X website, this was discovered quite earlier on when the treasure hunters first uncovered this mystery.

More questions have arisen since their last expedition to the object as the main purpose of the latest dive was to conduct video recordings of the find, yet as soon as they were within a radius of around 200 meters from the underwater structure, all their cameras, GPS and satellite phones automatically switched off, then regained power once they were out of the 200 m zone. Some have described this as almost like an EMP or Electro-Magnetic Pulse. What ever it is, the divers are completely stunned by the latest events and are now planning for their next expedition where they hope to have a geologist who will join them in trying to find answers to this potentially ground breaking discovery.

Personally, this mystery has reached a point where what ever the object is, it will be a magnificent treasure. Some reports have indicated that the object was at some point above the level of the sea and was inhabited by early humans, due to the presence of "fire place" like structures. This theory would there place the age of this "site" to around 14000 years, labeling it as potentially the oldest human settlement ever found.

The Ocean X Team must strive forward and never give up until they find the answers that they are looking for. As always I will continue to provide feedback and updates on this topic when and if they arrive!

FIGHTS @ RIO +20

Just a bit of a follow up from my previous post on the state of our global environment.....

In all kinds of debates there are people for and against certain issues. On the last day of the Rio+20 Earth Summit, a heated argument broke out between leftist Presidents from Bolivia and Ecuador, along with indigenous people, stating that the promotion of a "Green Economy" was just a ploy laden with capitalist greed and was even so far as to be described as a "new colonialism" that would be imposed on developing countries....

To an extent I can understand why these guys would say that. I mean, they have been left behind the rest of the world in terms of development, and its reached a point for these developing countries where they resent the rest of the world for having the ability to develop. They feel like the fat kid who gets chosen last to play a soccer game at school, and then gets placed as the goal keeper, or sits on the bench!! The developed countries became who they are due to favorable events throughout history as well as the sheer driving force of the human spirit to better itself and improve. Colonialism occurred essentially for power over land control across the world. Any civilization would have done the same, regardless of the colour of their skin, or native culture. Those that colonized our countries did so for these purposes. As a result of these events, we now have roads, we now have technology that helps us in our every day lives. We now use a concoction of stone and sand to make what we refer to as "houses" to live in. Its because of this "colonialism" that you can now read this very blog, on the other side of the world, or off your hand help communication device that we call a CELL PHONE or depending where you live, a "MOBILE PHONE".

The green economy will probably be used to make money from developing countries natural resources, but it will also be used to grow the economy of the developing country it self. The fact that we actually have a conference of this kind and topic is a strong indication that we are beginning to take action to protect our planet and better it..naturally. There are good people out there that want to help and who are concerned about the growing environmental issues facing us.

For those poorer/developing countries that suffer from poverty and hunger, maybe an idea would be to not have so many kids! That way, the little money you do have will last that much longer. In this day and age, cultural practices may have helped during a time when it was needed. However, as we have advanced to a level where we are very reliable on materialistic based needs and wants, the way we think has to change if we want to survive. That is the unfortunate truth. Hence...our world therefore needs to be rebooted some how. We need to think of alternative ways of doing things.

Once again, I'm bringing up the word "Alternative". It is clearly evident that what we are doing now and what we are using to do whatever we are "doing", is wrong. Its only providing short term benefits and not long term. Yes, its good to think in the present, but we need to act for the future.

Act LOCAL and think GLOBAL!

We are on the brink of an Extinction Level Event. By this, I do not mean that a huge asteroid is all of a sudden going to appear in the sky and hit our planet, nor will the Earth's core begin to overheat and all of a sudden break up the planets continents. What I am talking about is the effect of 19,817 plant and animal species that are currently under SERIOUS threat with extinction. This means that there are that many species of living organisms that could in the very near future be completely wiped off the surface of the planet, never to be seen or heard of again. But why should we worry....?? I mean, we don't need them. We are the mighty HUMANS! We are the rulers of this planet. Let's just carry on raping the planets fossil fuels, and living unsustainably! Let's carry on throwing our plastic out of the car window and dirtying the streets! Let's bend and warp the rules of nature to suite us! If you agreed to any of these suggestions then please go play a game of Russian Roulette....and lose!

At the latest Rio +20 Earth Summit, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) published their annual Red list which highlights all the plants and animals under threat. The top species under threat where the amphibians such as frogs, toads and newts. Ocean biodiversity continued to decline with a third of all reef building corals threatened by extinction. This means BAD NEWS for humans, 275 Million of which are reliant on Coral Reefs for food, coastal protection and livelihoods, according to the IUCN.

The problem here is that WE are to blame...mainly. Of course the planet naturally warms and cools and changes climates, produces Earthquakes, Tsunami's and such. Since the advent of the industrial revolution however, our ability to understand the natural processes that occur through out nature was blown away into the haze of ignorance that covered the human race. We wanted power, we wanted faster moving vehicles, we wanted to plant and grow food quicker than the guy next door. As a result, our food is only about 65% real (Ok, so im not completely sure about that percentage...so DO NOT QUOTE ME) ...in the sense of naturally produced edible material.

We require supplements just so that we can receive the daily dosage of vitamins and minerals that we as humans need to survive. It is seriously getting to the point of no return now. Do not rely on your government to change things. You yourself need to change. Tell your friends if they don't know about it already. Go crazy about it. If blabbing like this to your mates irritates them, then STUFF THEM! At the end of the day you probably don't need them anyway! You carry on saving the planet! Listen to that little voice in your head...that voice of reason. Don't be afraid to NOT follow the crowd. Start your own revolution!

Baltic Sea Mysterious Object UPDATE

To all those interested, the researchers concerned are still trying to figure out what the mysterious object is at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. What they do know is that the object is made out of Stone and has been around since before the last Ice Age. Yet, a part of the mystery stems from the fact that no Silt was found on the surface of the object, which is strange considering the age of the undersea megalith. Usually if something of that age has been lying dormant for a long period of time at the bottom of the ocean, it would have gathered silt over the years, yet nothing of the sort has been found.....WEIRD!! They are still unsure as to whether this is a naturally formed object or if it was placed there by someone or something else. I will keep you updated if anything new is found on this topic! Baltic Sea Mystery

Towards the end of last year (2011), a Swedish based diving company "Ocean Explorer" found a 197 feet cylindrical object at the bottom of the Baltic sea, between Sweden and Finland.

Since then, plans have been put in place for an expedition to take place that will help solve the mystery of identifying what the object is. On the 15th of June 2012, divers from Ocean Explorer revisited the location of the strange object and have confirmed that they have in fact found something abnormal at in the seabed. They have described the object as about the size of a jumbo-jet rising to 3 or 4 meters from the seabed with rounded but rugged edges as well as an egg shaped hole leading into it. After various scans prior to the dive, it was also found that there seemed to be a dug out path on the seabed leading directly to the object. On their dive yesterday samples were brought up to be examined and further sonar scans where taken of the object, and as of yet they are just waiting for the results to be processed.

So now apparently Hosni Mubarak does not trust the doctors around him as he fears that they are out to kill him. Maybe he is right, maybe one of the relatives of the doctors died as a result of Mubarak's actions, or lack there of. This high profile prisoner/ex-dictator has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes. He failed as a leader in preventing the deaths of protesters in Egypt last year, but not just that, he has also failed in helping his country develop positively. This along with the other events during the Arab Spring last year is solid proof that DICTATORSHIPS do not work in this day and age, and if you are a dictator you may just end up like this guy!

What I find quite funny about this whole saga is that this guy was sentenced to life in prison and almost as soon as he step foot inside the prison compound, he has had non stop medical attention due to high blood pressure, breathing difficulties, and now depression. Oh, and they recently used a defibrillator on him because they couldn't find a pulse at some stage. I believe that he and, South Africa's very own, Schabir Shaik have probably had recent meetings and Mr Mubarak has been infected by Schabir's "terminal" disease. This disease will prevent him from spending any real time in jail, but the upside is that he will be able to play GOLF and walk around on his own without any aid! AND....he will still have the energy to throw a few punches at civilians. Oh well, guess it can't be all that bad.

Although, as serious as this is, and I'm sure Hosni is truthfully sick, one also needs to consider that maybe the thought of spending the rest of his days in jail, may have caused him a slight bit of stress. This could very well be the reason why he experienced difficulty breathing and high blood pressure. Maybe he realized that he wasn't going to drink expensive wines and whiskeys, as well as consume gourmet meals, rich in taste and satisfying to his experienced taste buds. Maybe he could smell the canteen food (assuming they have canteens in prison) along with the aroma of mass produced cheap coffee and tea (assuming they have coffee and tea in prison at all...regardless of cheapness). This alone would immediately alter the chemical balance of this body, whereby sending him into a state of deep depression.


Satire aside, I do not wish death on anyone and I feel that justice should be served. Mubarak must pull through so that he can go to jail and experience the karma that is due to him. At least he hasn't suffered the same fate as Gaddafi.

The price of OIL is going DOWN?? REALLY??

Well this is good news for us I think. I mean, surely if the price of oil drops, so will the price of petrol (by default surely). Please COMMENT if I'm wrong! Or if I've missed something.

Some have indicated that the drop in oil price is due to the current economic state of well...the world basically.
I would like to think that this sudden decline in oil price will alleviate a bit of economic pressures around the world. But it may not. Aren't we just gonna go buy more stuff and keep ourselves in debt, whereby not really changing anything at all? The truth is, we need still to save what ever we can and still be careful with our hard earned income. We need to do this until there is an alternative and preferably cheaper source of energy that we can harness. FRACKING is definitely not the way to go, unless you want to continue to destroy sensitive environmental biomes. I am referring to the relatively recent talks about gas fracking in the Karoo, South Africa. This must not happen! Fracking is a seriously bad idea. Yes there may be billions of Rands worth of investment involved as well as the potential for job creation, but at the same time, the effects of injecting chemicals deep into the ground in order to release trapped gas in Shale formation, will cause environmental disasters that we are not yet ready to deal with. An interesting read for those interested. To summarize, scientists have discovered the largest ever concentration of "under-ice phytoplankton" stretching about 100 km's. What they think has happened is that the pools of water under thinner sections of ice have concentrated sunlight, allowing for perfect conditions for the growth of  phytoplankton. The water in these sections of ice has turned green as a result.

Personally, I don't know whether to be worried or excited about this. We have all heard about the dangers of the melting ice caps and what might happen if enough fresh water enter the oceans as well as the slowing down of the Ocean Conveyer Belt. More worrying though, is the effect that this may have on migrating birds and whales, as the early bloom of enriched water may pose problems for naturally timed migrations to this area.

The much debated question that we need to consider is, is this our fault or is this a natural process? Through our ignorance of the effects of industrialization and ever increasing CO2 levels have we reached a tipping point? OR...is our planet just going along its merry way proving that we aren't in control and that nature rules us all. I hope the human race is beginning to change its mindset.

The reason why donations are needed is due to the fact that NO large production companies want to fund this potentially life changing documentary. The reason being is that the topic for the documentary is in some circles shunned upon and seen as a bit of a taboo subject. This is no Hollywood block buster yet if enough people become aware of it, the cumulative effect will send shock waves around the world. You may also be a bit skeptical about it all. Rightly so. The idea of the human race being in contact with an alien race is something that most people may not be used to or even comfortable with. But luckily we are not. If anything, if there are aliens out there, they are simply observing us. By the way the human species have acted over the last few millenia, the idea of aliens observing us could probably be likened to visitors at a zoo observing chimps.

The human race is on the brink of destroying the only planet in the solar system that we can call our home. We fight each other over natural resources and over religion and therefore over money and power. We are the only species of animal (thats right...animal) that have broken away from nature to try and control it, instead of working with nature to control ourselves from ourselves. This concept is quite simple really, and it can be summed up in two words, Live Sustainably. Of course, I realize that if it wasn't for the move from hunter/gatherer to heavy industrialists we wouldn't have roads, motor vehicles, rockets to the moon or telescopes to view the stars, or even cell phones for that matter. The Sirius documentary will investigate how we actually do have the technology to completely remove ourselves from the use of fossil fuels, to use cleaner energy. This will surely push the human civilization into the next stage of intelligence. We will begin to live a healthier lifestyle that does away with pollution and so no more smog ridden skylines. The film will also discuss how we have been blinded from this knowledge by a selected few individuals with lots of money and power at their disposal.

Now put yourself into the shoes of the big oil producing companies, which if one thinks about it, actually have control over most of the planet at their finger tips. Are these companies prepared to put their tools down and allow new cleaner energy producing technology to take over? What level of power do these companies have over government institutions? President Obama said during one of his speech's that one of his goals would be remove the reliance of oil produced in Iran. Iran is one of the largest oil producing parts of the world, how else is the American government prepared to supply their people with energy if their isn't and alternative resource big enough to power the U.S?

The documentary Sirius is due to be released during December 2012, If you have the slightest thought that this could be legit, then I suggest you follow the link and read up about Dr Steven Greer and the work that he is done. Some of it may seem a bit far out and slightly unreal, but so was the idea that the Earth was flat! If anything its something to ponder about.

I have some seriously mixed emotions about this particular situation for the following reasons:

1. If all goes well the application by PetroSA to the NNPC will be a positive one, which will hopefully result in a rapid drop in petrol prices. The knock on effect of this will be fantastic...if all goes well of course. Lower costs for food and supplies will definitely make our lives easier. However, knowing how corrupt these types of situations can get, it will be a miracle if the prices go down at all. 
2. There is a worry that the NNCP could be as dodgy as the drug lords that parade the South Africa streets at night. 
3. If this doesn't work out, and the NNCP refuse to work with PetroSA, it will place us in a pretty crappy situation. You think the price of petrol is high now, wait until the end of June. The sanctions that have been put in place in Iran are putting more and more pressure on SA to find alternative oil resources. 

One thing is for sure, we don't need the price of petrol to go up anymore than it has. The cracks are beginning to appear and something needs to happen to make life more manageable. Why doesn't government find new and innovative ways to generate energy? What about wind powered energy, or even better how about energy obtained from the currents in the ocean. Its an idea that has been proposed for the City of Durban/eThekwini here in South Africa. Yet..this may not even see the light of day if the power hungry blood suckers like ESKOM have any say in the matter. A solution to this may be that we all stand up and strike for cleaner energy. Either that...or im gonna invest in riding a horse or a bicycle and live on a farm!

Google is going that extra step further. This is what sets it apart from the rest! For personal reasons the Map Maker addition will be a useful tool to those of us in the GIS field. This will allow us to investigate the imagery and send recommendations to Google if there are any inaccuracies! Not sure if we will get much credit for it, but at least we will know that we've added value to this mapping resource!

I've happened to stumble across one of the latest news station reports of UFO sightings in the US. This time over Blue Springs in Missouri. It so happens that the same looking object has been reportedly seen all across the US as well as in Croatia over the last few years. The question I would like to put out there is...why are these reports never followed up? They just remain unanswered and the story never ever makes it to main stream media. The evidence remains as a YouTube clip waiting for Star Trek or Star Wars junkies (like myself) to watch them, get excited and ask these ridiculous questions to people!! A YouTube clip I watched last year, which is one of my favourite (in the UFO genre of clips), went slightly viral over the social network. It comprises of a bunch of news reports from local and national news stations in the US as well as Australia from the sounds of it. The reports are of orbs, strange spirals of light, extremely large "weather phenomena" none of which can be explained. One of the cooler of the clips is a report of a strange ball of light floating down over the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The light decends to just about the very top of the Dome, remains still, then shoots up into the sky at incredible speed. Now, im not sure if that sighting has been proved as being a hoax or not, but what ever it is, it definitely was impressive. The end of the clip is a sound byte from a syndicated radio station in the US where (what sounds like a crack pot) some guy phones in stating that some crazy alien shit is gonna happen and we all in danger...oh and he is on the run from Area 51 officials...I suspect some say that he could be slightly neurotic, or tripping on drugs, or he could be right and telling the truth, in which case..we are in for one hell of a ride. Needless to say, it ends leaving you with a slightly uneasy feeling. Its all very strange and we may never witness contact on a global scale between us and an extra-terrestrial race of beings, so its probably best to not get too ahead of ourselves. Hopefully, more attention will be made to these sorts of stories....not war and economic problems. We have become immune to the most horrific of topics, such as WAR, MURDERS, KIDNAPPING, RAPE...hell, even CANNIBALISM . We want to ask questions. We want to know the truth. We want something to look forward to, like clean energy, advanced medical solutions, advanced propulsion systems, sustainable technology and development. It is part of what makes us human, that we want to know more about our world and beyond the heavens. Surely, that must count for something...

Hmm....not sure what to make of this! As amazing as this is...im not sure how or why this article made it to the News 24, and probably other news websites...im guessing CNN as well...not sure. Let me check.....Nope...CNN wasnt that interested, and rightly so. I would rather read this in a SciTech article in a magazine. Its that kind of news....isnt it? Maybe it will become more news worthy in about a 4 billion years time...or actually 3.9999999 billion years..by the 4th billionth year we will all be dead....the Earth I mean...we could be gone much quicker than that!

Something to be proud of!!

The link above takes us to an article on New 24.com regarding the successful mission of the SpaceX Dragon, that made it from the ground here on Earth to the ISS (International Space Station) orbiting our planet. There it unloaded a whole lot of supplies, parked off for a while then disembarked back to Earth, where it crash landed into the Pacific...(I hope they get proper landing gear for the Dragon otherwise its gonna be a costly excersize). Not only is this a first for private companies involved with Space flight, but its also a first for South Africa as the CEO of SpaceX is South African born Elon Musk.

Personally, I've never heard of him, but am proud to know that he is South African...well done guy! This, along with the involvement of the SKA has boosted South Africa's involvment in space exploration.
